Recruitment & Training

At Inter-County we recognise that the reputation of our business depends upon the ability and experience of our staff. We maintain high standards of recruitment and train our staff to the highest possible level. Recruitment and training are key to the success of our business.

Our Recruitment Procedure:

We carry out a:

  • Face to face interview
  • Work and medical history check
  • CRB check
  • NMC PIN Check (Nurses)

We ask for:

  • Two written references
  • Verification of identity
  • Documentary evidence of all qualifications and training

We conduct:

  • All relevant training
  • Annual appraisal and supervised monitoring
  • Supervisions and assessments
  • Analysis of each staff member's skills to match chosen work sector

Training For Carers:

All staff are required to complete mandatory training in the following subjects:

  • Internal company policy and procedure
  • Manual Handling
  • Safeguarding of Vulnerable Adults
  • Mental Capacity/Consent
  • Equality & Diversity
  • Infection Control
  • First Aid
  • Medication
  • Fire Safety
  • Health & Safety
  • Food Hygiene/Nutrition

Specialist Courses include (but are not limited to):

  • Dementia
  • Communication
  • Diabetes
  • Bereavement
  • Visual/Hearing Impairment

We also support staff to develop their skills and qualifications through external training providers. Staff are encouraged and supported to obtain the new Health & Social Care Diploma Level 2 & 3 qualification. All staff holding this qualification (or equivalent) receive an enhanced hourly rate of pay.

Training for Nurses:

We aim to support all our nursing staff with PREP and will inform them on a regular basis of any training courses or seminars that are taking place in the local area. All nurses recruited by Inter-County undertake a formal induction, followed by on-going supervision.
